The University Technology Enterprise Center (UTEC) is one of the premier enterprise centers in the Upper Midwest. Since 1986, we've been offering new and growing businesses a high-energy alternative to ordinary office buildings. UTEC is a long-standing member of the National Business Incubator Association, an organization dedicated to assisting new businesses.

Location, Location, Location!

UTEC is located in the middle of Dinkytown, a small area of the city directly off the University of Minnesota's Main Campus. The neighborhood has a quaint, "college-town" feel to it, even though we are only blocks from downtown Minneapolis and major arterial highways. We provide reasonably priced office space as well as comprehensive support services. But perhaps even more important, there is a pervasive spirit here -- a spirit of cooperation, encouragement and shared enthusiasm -- which tenants say serves as a powerful stimulant to their success. Over 160 thriving enterprises now share the UTEC experience.

UTEC is a for-profit, privately owned and sponsored facility operating with the same entrepreneurial focus as the businesses we serve. Though office space is our primary "product", we see the organizations here as more than tenants -- they are also our clients and customers.

Instead of artificial subsidies, we employ our facility and support systems to help you meet your goals effectively and economically. Unlike some incubators, we do not have a "matriculation policy". Instead, our hope is that you will grow, prosper, and remain with us to help show the way for others.

UTEC's a clearinghouse for essential information and resources. We host seminars on subjects of interest to small businesses and organizations. Past topics include FINANCING, LAW, TAXATION, ACCOUNTING, VENTURE CAPITAL, and MARKETING.

If we cannot bring the necessary information to you, we'll help you network to find qualified professional assistance, from local to international.

Our community is a unique blend of businesses, professional practices and nonprofit organizations, each contributing its own personalities and perspective. Many represent "in-house" sources of help to fellow tenants, ranging from legal services to marketing communications.
